Together we build a Commons Humanity

– join us, support today our Coopfunding.net campaign –

via Global Networked Labour Union | CoopFunding.

GLOBAL NETWORKED LABOUR UNION aims at:

1.  Creating one big mesh network for the working people from the Global South and Global North by linking autonomous networks and communities of high-tech/knowledge, industrial and service workers; domestic, immigrant, rural, jobless and future workers; solidarity, activism and research networks; labour, environmental, social justice and information freedom activists,

2. Hyper- and self-empowerment of the individual nodes and networks involved,

3.  Emancipation of human labour, creativity and potential from current dominant system based on waged slavery by mesh networking existing and working alternatives and  building new ones,

4. Combining labour, digital, creative and media activism to confront system with transnationally meshed, systemic and strategic mass actions,

The network of the projects we design and develop focuses on self-organizing and connecting like-minded peers and their network bases to each other strategically and synergetically. To this end we build dynamic, free, libre, and open access spaces and tools through which our collective agendas, struggles, and energies can entangle with each other, and we can act upon them harmonically. Variety of projects listed below invites like minded peers to use the individual social and communicational power they have and collaborate around dynamic, creative and positive projects empowering them. By combining peer to peer social dynamics and technologies, and embedding them into our internal and external processes and relations we ultimately target global emancipation of labour and the commons from the capital, by empowering all the single nodes joining in collaborating creation of a commons humanity.

Below are the core projects we are currently occupied with. We have been developing those bsed on totally free and peer to peer controbution and exchange, cooperation and mutual aid. This has allowed us to stay autonomous and independant from any state or private social force, financially and ideological influece. In order to support and co-empower each other we have been using the spaces created by organisations like P2P Foundation, Union Solidarity International (the Organizing Network – ON), and collaborating with comrade projects Says-Us, LabourLeaks, Cyberunions, May First/People Link, and others. Most recently we have become a member of the Fair.coop, the first global and open workers owned cooperative. The only exception of finacial and material support was very small funding accespted for the organisation of the first Networked Labour Seminar, and this came from Transnational Institute and Transform Europe (see expl. below).

GNUnionize in solidarity!

GNUnion invites you to network, self-organize, and stitch One Big Meshwork by linking like-minded peers and their network bases to each other strategically. We call everyone striving to build dynamic, free, libre, and open source spaces bottom up, to bring their collective agendas and strategies in touch and act upon them in an harmonized way.

GNUnion encourages all its peers to collectivize their individual social and communicational power to swarm around dynamical, creative and positive actions as much as possible. Such collective actions, as we have been witnessing, are capable of making a real impact at unpredicted magnitudes on chosen targets, regardless how large and powerful they are.

Combining peer to peer social relations and technologies and embedding them into all its internal and external processes and relationships, we ultimately aim at hyper-empowerment of all the nodes involved.

Below are the projects we are currently engaged in mutual support and co-empowering by networking and self-organizing using working spaces on the Organizing Network (ON) and Fair.coop, which are online collaborative social networking tools provided by comrades, at May First / People Link, Union Solidarity International and Fair.Coop.

Fair.Coop – Earth’s cooperative for economic fairness

Fair.coop is an open global cooperative which organizes itself through the Internet and remains off-limits from nation-state control.

Its aim is to make the transition to a new world by reducing as much as possible the economic and social inequalities among human beings, and at the same time gradually contribute to a new global wealth, accessible to all humankind as commons.

Fair.coop understands that the transformation to a fairer monetary system is a key element. Therefore, it proposes Faircoin as the cryptocurrency upon which to base its resource-redistribution actions and building of a new global economic system.

LabourLeaks – Exposing wrongdoings in the workplace

Work groups will initially scan and analyze the leaked documents that are released by Wikileaks, like the Global Intelligence Files as well as other groups like Anonymous, GlobalLeaks. What will we be looking for in such meta-data will be about violations against producer, designer, users and consumer rights; such as stolen data, planned obsolescence, illegal and dangerous material use, capture and misuse of user-costumer data including selling the data to companies, production related threats to workers and public health.

Further more we will networgansie multi-lingual whistle-blowing activities, primarily targeting largest TNC networks.

We will turn the information into secure campaign intelligence, either to use in global actions we will launch as GNUnion, or feed-in and support ongoing union actions. In cases where there is an already organized independent union active, weather in the main company or its subsidiary, we will support their actions by designing and forging global online viral campaigns.

SaysUs – from anonymous complaint to coordinated action

This web site is a proposal for the creation of a web facility, Says-Us, that allows anonymous complaints about fulfillment  of basic needs, by people all over the world, in their own language. Says-Us will act as a portal, allowing millions of people to find each other and  find thousands of organizations that will help unify activity and respond to injustice and oppression.

UnionUpgrading

GNUnion will help all other forms of unions at all organizational levels (base-membership-shop floor level-organization, management) in order to realize necessary organizational and networked transformations and to become hyperempowered organized networks strongly connected to the grassroots and society. We provide unions with cutting edge resources, links, ties, actions, exchanges, social media skill-sharing and self-education campaigns.

Transnational Solidarity with Occuppied Factories

This group will strive to support transnational solidarity networks being formed between occupied factories around the world, with resources, actions, exchanges, social media skill-sharing and self-education campaigns.

Social Network-, Wiki-, Meta- Strikes

Our first direct and mesh networked action will be a transnational meta-strike to target PRISM contractors. Priority objectives of the strike will be forcing the state elite and capital to hand-off private and public data, and stop abusing people and democratic rights for their commercial and tyrannical objectives. The action will reclaim what is ‘social’ and belong to people in societal communication and bring about mass awareness about using FLOSS!

We will bring high-tech and industrial workers, hackers, system admins, digital artists and activists and their powers coming from production, consumption, communication and knowledge -so a being social individuals and society.

Welcome to LabourLeaks | LabourLeaks.org

OK. You know about press leaks: they are as old as the press. You know about the famous/notorious online Wikileaks, this is only seven years old and is one part of the subversive/emancipatory capacity of the web. There are increasing numbers of such leaks, produced by particular groups for particular purposes, for different kinds of public.

Well, we are labour activists, long active both on the shopfloor and online. And we have ourselves had bad experience with company secrecy and ‘managerial prerogatives’: some of us have been disciplined or sacked for exposing information that is essential for ourselves or our fellow workers. This is why we have created

Discussion

From France to Europe

A report of the ongoing mobilization was made by the French comrades, starting from the necessity of going from France to Europe, that is of expressing the transnational potential of the French movement, also concerning its experimental character in terms of connection between social movements and trade unions. The commission for the general strike has been active in the past months in turning the democratic aspirations of NuitDebout into struggles on the field of strike and labor, that is also finding connections with unions and workers’ protests outside the square. The difficulty, felt on a national basis and even more on a European level, is how to build a «we», in a situation where no ideological basis is shared. The commission for political economy underlined the need of stressing the commonalities among the countries in Europe in terms of attack on labor and social rights. The CIP (Coordination des intermittents et précaires) stressed how the mobilization against the loi travail has been able to make different struggles converge, while the strategy of the government has been that of producing divisions among sectors and categories, improving the conditions of some workers at the price of the others. It has also been stressed that beside the loi travail, the transformation of welfare systems (such as the reform of unemployment benefits) and the management of migrants’ movement were some of the main instruments to cause divisions among workers and to increase the control over the labor force. In this frame, the necessity of overcoming national borders and the division among categories and professions is crucial, as well as the necessity of going beyond the simple organization of labor through unions.

Striking in precarious times: what do we have in common?

The loi travail is very similar to other laws enforced in Europe in the last years. Even though in each country there are specific ways of institutionalizing precarity, there is also a common trend in Europe that should become the starting point of our initiative. This makes a change of perspective necessary, first of all for all of us who have been mainly engaged in organizing on a national or local level. This is true especially for the unions that are usually stuck on the national context and on the organization of labor into categories, which has been substantially overcome by the growth of mobility and precarity. The struggle for the defense of national bargaining is telling of this predicament. While it can gain important results on the national level, what do we do against the fact that, for instance, a good collective bargaining in France can mean a decrease in wages and working conditions in Poland or elsewhere along the production chain, in order to make the book balance?

1. Culture and knowledge for classless societies is networked in process!

Networked Labour University is designed as an educational module to be integrated with a broader network composed of Global Networked Labour Union, Networked Labour Research unit, and networked labour coop GNLU. Tied to a greater ecology of universal, free and open access community projects, such as Faircoop, the Earth Cooperative, all our projects aim mutual empowerment at the bottom level. Unconditional empowerment of the dis-empowered, excluded, and oppressed with direct solidarity is the reason why we exist for. Our platform is designed to liberate knowledge from alienation and domination of any kind at the point of production and distribution. In order to enable money-free access to most essential cultural resources we rely on free/libre, open source software, but the platform also aims to facilitate broader solidarity economy by encouraging and enabling open-cooperative exchanges between participants.

To Save the World… Preface by Bernard Stiegler for Michel Bauwens’ new book | P2P Foundation

Social Network Unionism

sans-titreMichel Bauwens, peer-to-peer activist and founder of the Peer-to-Peer Foundation, has a new book out, in French, entitled Saving the World: Towards a post-capitialist society with peer-to-peer. In the book Michel, with his collaborator Jean Lievens, argues that a new distributed and de-centralised economic model is necessary to shake up the world and  drive us towards a post-capitalist society. In a wide-ranging, impassioned and ambitious, perhaps idealistic, diagramming of a new mode of living and working Bauwens reaches for a different way of performing economics and the political.

The book has a preface by Bernard Stiegler that has been shared on the Peer-to-Peer Foundation website and so I have translated it. I have offered this to the foundation and I would be pleased if it is of use to them or to anyone else. The copyright of the text remains under the license attributed to the original book.

Some reflections on the history-hack by Brian Holmes: New brief history of neolbieralism as modernism 2.0?

Social Network Unionism

The below is a mind blowing text by Brian Holmes: Volatile Smile – Information’s Metropolis..  the text is full of history hacking of major importance…

I just have tried to highlight the two the sharpest points that created a cerebral
drifting in my mind out of the text. Though it needs further work on facts and figures
in order to establish the idea, this post still presents an informed reflection on the detour take Holmes us over Chicago, based on my current work. Potentially I believe that what the story Holmes lies down here infront of our eyes, so naked, might change the brief history of neoliberalism as we know into a longer history of the emergence of global Informationalism as the sub-structure, even mode of production that has kicked off sort of a Renaissance 2.0; which might be started somewhere in the mid-late 19th century and evolved into a second Modernism project with ups and…
